| Hotel Re!’s structure was formerly a primary school building. The school started out as Cross Street School in 1883 and renamed as Pearl’s Hill School in 1914. The school settled in the 12 storey Chin Swee Road in 1971. It became known as the tallest school in Singapore and was declared opened on 2nd June 1972.
The school ceased operations at its Pearl’s Hill site on 31 Dec 2001 and was replaced by the Stamford Student Residence. It was also the first former
school building tendered out by Singapore Land Authority (SLA) to Hartawan Holdings for hotel use. |
